* Every lesson is differentiated to my student's particular needs.
* Years of experience teaching and tutoring a range of ages and abilities enables me/us to adapt and change methods and pace.
* Emphasis on increasing confidence with achievable successes before tackling harder questions.
* As an exam marker, the need for the students to be exposed and familiar with exam questions throughout the course is so apparent and provides the main focus of my sessions. Understanding what the questions are asking, by looking for command words and clues (from an English language point of view) helps them to be able to access their knowledge and apply it to the question.
* Another key focus is to build up the independence and initiative of the students to prepare them for the next stages of learning. They need to be able to take onus of their learning and providing them with ideas, resources, websites to do that is just as important as the content.
* Lessons will be as fast paced or slow as the student requires and this will depend on the topics and subjects. Including brain or movement breaks if needed is something that I am used to with some students. Changing colours or font sizes can also help with some lessons too.
* The key is variety and consistency all at once!
* Recognising strengths and praising them is just as important as focusing on weaknesses to create a true learning environment.
* I have tutored countless groups of siblings over the years and love seeing the different and similar personalities and needs.
