I am Italian with an international experience. I speak English, German, and Italian.
With the Bachelor of Science Degree in Biotechnology and the Master of Science Degree in Industrial Biotechnology (2017; Milan, Italy), I have gained experience on molecular biotechnology. During my Bachelor studies at University of Milano-Bicocca I worked on 12 months molecular biology plus microbial chemistry project at Ångström Laboratory (Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden).
Within the experience at the Ångström laboratory, I was also involved with an American industrial partner. I worked as Assistant Researcher for isobutanol and 1-butanol production from different species of cyanobacteria. This experience made me gain very good communication and writing skills, strong experience as I had to present laboratory results regularly and periodically. I have also acquired a working knowledge of Swedish.
After this experience I had the opportunity to be doctoral student of the PhotoBioCat Doctoral Training Network (PhotoBioCat – Light-Driven Sustainable Biocatalysis Training Network), at Graz University of Technology and at the University of Porto. The title of my Ph.D. thesis is “Reaction engineering of cyanobacterial photo-biotransformations”. I completed that, and I have a double degree doctorate (Doctor rerum naturalium, and Doutor em Biologia). I have been involved in teaching of different disciplines of biology at the university.
