I have taught in secondary schools in the UK and have also given private lessons to students preparing for their GCSE and A-Level exams, so I am familiar with the syllabuses for both of these exams. In my lessons I focus on preparing for exams or conversational German, depending on what the students want. If we were to prepare for exams I vary the activities between the four attainment targets, speaking. reading, hearing and writing. Because of this the lessons tend to be varied.
For A-Level preparation I use a variety of German media, to make the lessons lively and up to date. I find it important to make language learning fun and also try to make the communication in the target language real. Because I am a native speaker of German talking to me in German is immediately a real conversation.
