As an art teacher with years of experience, I have developed a comprehensive format for my art classes that is both engaging and effective. I tailor each class to the individual needs of my students. Sometimes my classes will be based on teaching drawing and other techniques, sometimes we will create comprehensive long-term projects that are necessary elements for portfolios and sometimes if I see a particular need I will create adjusted exercises to address these needs.
Regardless of the focus of the class, my goal is to create an environment that is both supportive and challenging. At the beginning of each class, I set clear learning objectives that outline what students should expect to learn and what they should aim to achieve by the end of the class. I then provide a brief overview of the lesson plan for the day, as well as any materials or tools that the students will need. During the class, I provide hands-on instruction and guidance, while also allowing my students to work independently and explore their own creativity. I encourage my students to take risks, experiment, and think outside the box. At the same time, I provide constructive feedback and critiques to help them improve their skills and grow as artists. I believe in the importance of reflection and self-assessment. At the end of each class, I encourage my students to reflect on what they learned, what they struggled with, and what they would like to improve on in the future. This helps them to take ownership of their learning and become more self-aware as artists.
