Currently, I am a penultimate-year law student at Durham University. I have previously taught at a Non-Governmental Organization in India. One of my main responsibilities at this non-profit organization (NGO) was to develop resources for underprivileged children and compile them in a manner that is easy to teach and understand. I also went a little extra mile to research and make a report on effective teaching methods to help the teachers deliver the necessary support to these children. I was not required to take this step, but knowing the low-quality teaching at partially funded NGOs, I knew I had to do my best for these children from marginalized backgrounds to receive a better education. Additionally, I adapted my language style to personally interact with students on the weekends and engage them in extracurricular activities like mind-developing games.
My teaching methods include dictations, encouraging students to ask questions and share ideas and recaps at the end of every class. I would also like to encourage exit tickets, where students are pushed to answer a particular question before they can leave the class.
