Hello, My name is Diane and I have over 27 years years experience of teaching Maths, as a qualified teacher.
I have taught on a one-to-one basis, small groups as well as full sized classes online. Having an individual, one-to-one lesson is the best way to accelerate your learning. The lesson is planned with the student in mind and is specific to their learning needs. This takes into account their preferred style of learning so that sessions are as engaging and enjoyable as possible.
I am professional but try to set a relaxed learning environment to get the best out of the student. It is important to build a professional, working relationship so that the student feels comfortable and confident in their learning. This includes finding out interests and what motivates them to incorporate this into lessons, if possible.
We would cover various elements of the curriculum, focussing on gaps in knowledge and understanding but also applying knowledge from a variety of topics to test full understanding, reasoning and problem solving.
I am fully up to date with the current KS2 & KS3 curricula and have tutored GCSE students using Edexcel, AQA and OCR syllabi.
As well as teaching Maths I have many years of experience as a Pastoral Leader having been a Head of Year and Senior Progress Leader. I was also a Senior Leader (ranging from Assistant Head to Senior Vice Principal) for approximately 10 years having responsibility for Learning & Achievement. This included Internal & External Exams, Reporting to Parents, Curriculum Management and Timetabling were some of my responsibilities.
I have completed the required Safeguarding Training and have an Enhanced DBS Certificate.
