I prefer a conversational approach to tutoring. Psychology is not like the rest of the sciences, it allows for simple terms and easy to comprehend examples. I have had experiencing tutoring when I was a teaching assistant at my undergraduate university, and I did both one-on-one tutoring, as well as group tutoring. I prefer to inquire about what my students struggle with first, and go from there. Most times concepts are not grasped because there is some background knowledge missing, and I want to identify that missing knowledge and fill those gaps.
While my lessons are conversational in nature, I rely on homework, and I insist that my students do the assigned homework tasks. Most learning occurs outside of the classroom environment, and I firmly believe in that, and try to implement it in my lessons as well. The pace of the lessons will be adjusted according to the student's needs. If you seem to be doing fine, the tempo can be increased. If you seem to need additional help, we can slow down and adjust accordingly.
I apply psychology in my tutoring. I treat my students as if they are my clients. I try to listen, to understand your learning style, and approach each individual student according to their individual needs. Not everyone learns the same, so not everyone can be taught the same. When you book tutoring sessions with me, you will get my undivided attention, and my eagerness to help you learn and understand material you struggle with. I am looking forward to working with you!
