A close reading of the poems
I always write an essay on the work of the poets or authors I am teaching for my examination students, so that they can read this at their leisure after the class. This allows me to be assured that they can ask questions on those aspects of the class they did not quite understand the next time we meet.
A small question and answer session at the end of the class for me to see what they have learned, so that I too can improve on delivery, and this also allows them to build in confidence when they realise how much they have learned.
A small task assigned designed to be motivational and which allows for continuity from class to class.
