My method of teaching maths is to understand the basics of a theorem, see practical examples of the theorem being used, now we can do similar questions and expand from there together. From then an idea can formulate in the mind to how to proceed with practice on variety of questions and also weird maths questions as fun and to explore problems like a puzzle. With sufficient practice learning a specific area in maths will not be a problem, so questions with multiple theorems in them can be quickly deciphered because your mind would have gone already recognized the problem. As your tutor, you will be pushed to practice exam style questions and move faster through the maths curriculum.
Whilst I tutor, I strongly encourage you to ask questions on ANY uncertainties, no matter how boring or silly they may sound because it is assumptions that can falter your math thinking when completing a question that has your doubts in them. Following this, I am only your guide and homework will be set and expected to be completed as a major part of your own development. Independent thinking is key to progress further in learning with the confidence to tackle problems of practical applications.
With me, you will find maths to be methodical like master key to locks for majority of problems you will solve. Statistics follows a more abstract approach but with the same blueprint for probability, hypothesis testing, sampling distribution statistics, etc.
We will work from book sources and online sources for theories and questions.
