Deb in a nutshell
With a mix of fun and laughter, I believe children learn best when they are engaged and enjoying lessons. I work with patience and respect, explaining and modelling slowly and ensuring that concepts are understood. Questions are encouraged and confidence is bolstered.

With a mix of fun and laughter, I believe children learn best when they are engaged and enjoying lessons. I work with patience and respect, explaining and modelling slowly and ensuring that concepts are understood. Questions are encouraged and confidence is bolstered.
During a typical lesson, the new learning will be introduced and modelled, each step will be broken down to ensure understanding and confidence is built. We will then look at practising the skill and then looking at using it in different formats.
I always look to build on a solid basis of understanding, ensuring that skills are learnt, understood and then reinforced so that children remember them when it is time to apply their knowledge.
The initial lesson will enable me to find a base line ability, finding gaps and discussing the preferred learning style, this will then let me design lessons that suit and ensure that they are catered towards each pupils individual learning style to ensure success in all areas. I provide well thought out learning opportunities along with engaging resources, created to support and challenge in all areas. I believe that empowering each student with confidence in their own ability is important. Fostering a sense of ownership in their learning encourages each child to take pride in their achievements and push themselves to achieve more than they think they can, setting them up for success in the future. Instilling a sense of pride is paramount for a successful learner in all areas of the curriculum.
