I like to ensure all my students are comfortable and understand the curriculum without any added pressure; i find not everyone learns the same so it’s best to get an understanding with the student whether they are a visual, reading and writing or physical etc so I can develop a lesson plan that encourages them to want to learn. Each lesson will begin with an ice breaker activity going over the previous topic taught to refresh their mind as well as an introduction to the new topic we will be studying. During the lesson I plan to make sure to take short breaks to see how the student is doing and see if they have any questions or concerns. At the end of every lesson there will be a short test to evaluate how their knowledge and skills as well as a homework assignment. The main format I will be using to present the lesson will be on powerpoint, however to keep the lessons interesting I will be incorporating plans such as online maths games maths playground and bbc bitesize so students can also be interactive within the lesson as I know online tutoring can be slightly difficult than in person. From my experience it’s all about patience and remaining positive which is exactly how I will be each lesson to create a safe space for the students and allow them to be creative. The main contents i will be focusing on are: number placements, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, measurements, geometry and statistics.
