During my career in education, I have taught a diverse number of subjects including Business, Finance, Sociology, History, Citizenship, PSHE, and Careers. My main subjects at the moment are Business and Finance. Consequently, I have an excellent understanding of the requirements of A-level, GCSE, and Level 2 Vocational syllabuses and I am registered as an A Level examiner. I am extremely proud that my colleagues and students regard me as an innovative classroom practitioner and a supportive and organised professional. I design lessons on a four or six part criteria depending on the length of the session and based on the scaffolding approach and a variety of learning styles. I mainly use PowerPoint slides mixed with my commentary, visual clips, worksheets, and practice exam questions. Throughout my career I have organised individual and small class support groups which were aimed at raising students’ exam grades. The students involved benefited immensely from these experiences with the chance to talk through case studies and the different types of exam questions. They were then able to apply their skills and knowledge to examinations, with their subsequent attainment increasing. I want to use my experience gained through the support group sessions to tutor online and bring success to a wider number of students. I have access to a number of different exam boards and an insight into how exam questions are graded. I have always felt that education is essential for young people to realise their potential and I am a strong believer in social mobility. I believe that with the appropriate support and motivation, young people can achieve high levels of success.
