My lessons are highly personalised, as to not waste time going over content the student is already confident in. I like to get input from the student preferably before the lesson on areas they are struggling with, so I can prepare adequately for the lesson. Then at the start I will go through that particular content with them trying to get them to understand. I believe understanding is a key part to learning and remembering content so I can go quite in depth. Then I will go through a series of questions that will have prepared beforehand. To start I myself will go through a question that will serve as an example to the student. Then me and the student will start working on examples together. All that means is that I will interject and provide hints wherever the student appears to be struggling. The questions will start off as simple as possible to ease the student in. Then the questions will get progressively harder. The aim is to not only consolidate the knowledge the student has in the subject but also to get the student familiar with exam technique. Understanding the content is important but knowing how and what to portray to the examiner is just as important. So I will be highlighting key phrases and points from the mark scheme. As we do multiple questions, the student should be able to pick up on these reoccurring themes and phrases. Overall my aim is for the student to get a comprehensive understanding of the subject, personal understanding and understanding from the examiner's perspective.
