With over 20 years of classroom experience, including a decade as a maths lead, I have taught Year 6 in diverse settings, from inner-city schools to outstanding public institutions. I specialise in preparing children for SATs and 11+ exams, fostering confidence and a love of learning in every student.

I deliver engaging and interactive online learning experiences, tailored to each child’s individual needs. My lessons are designed to ensure students not only understand the material but also enjoy the learning process.

I use a variety of software to bring lessons to life. Zoom is my main platform for live sessions, where I share my screen and use interactive whiteboards for real-time problem-solving. I also incorporate educational games and quizzes through platforms like Kahoot! and Quizlet to make learning fun and to reinforce key concepts. I also like to keep it old school - good teaching sometimes only requires little more than a whiteboard and expertise!

My teaching techniques involve a blend of direct instruction, guided practice, and independent tasks. I encourage questioning and discussion, helping children to think through problems out loud and develop their reasoning skills. My approach is always supportive and patient, allowing students to build confidence in their abilities. Positive reinforcement is a cornerstone of my teaching style.

Regular feedback and open communication with both students and parents are central to my approach. Whether celebrating small achievements or identifying areas for improvement, my aim is to create a safe and nurturing environment where every child can thrive academically.
