BACKGROUND. I have a Master of Science in Applied Physics with 3 years experience as an adjunct lecturer and over 8 years tutoring general physics, physical sciences, and mathematics from algebra through geometry/trigonometry to calculus I, II, III and linear algebra.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE. I have instructed various audiences in private, one-on-one environments to full classrooms of 10 to 30 students. This involved academia settings for primary, secondary, and college/university learners as well as applied mathematics and physics for industrial/daily application. I also served as a patent examiner for electrical engineering and semiconductor based patents at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. As a military physicist I continue to use and instruct physical science and mathematical application for operational use and technical analysis in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear operations.
STYLE. I prefer to understand your current understanding and goals. I am flexible whether the specific program suits your personal goals or requirements for a program. There are many ways to solve one problem, especially as the complexity increases. Helping you find the method that works best for you and uncovering methods your program may require may provide the tools and comfort to move forward.
PLATFORMS. We can use Zoom, WebEx, Teams, or other resources can be discussed to best suit your needs.
DETAIL. We will not skip steps, to ensure you can see, understand, practice, and return to any work at your best convenience.
EXAMPLE. I struggled with understanding math and physics in my early education but learned through experience how to apply what I was learning and break down each concept. For example, rather than struggling to remember equations such as:
velocity [v = x / t],
I learned, [speed = kilometers per hour = km / hr],
since kilometers (km) is a distance [x] and hours (hrs) is time [t].
I'm adaptable to best fit your style and the requirements of your course, program, and interests.
Best!
