I enjoy teaching all levels of science and I feel my enthusiasm comes through to the students. I have my own resources for teaching. Initially, I would gauge the level of understanding of basic scientific concepts before starting with the topic. My teaching style is primarily question-based, assessing the student's knowledge as we move forward. I prefer to try and relate scientific concepts with everyday/relatable experiences for the student so they can make the vital connections to understand and appreciate the science behind the lesson material. I tend to also set summary questions so the student can support their learning with challenging questions. In addition to the subject material, I also spend time focusing on the required practicals in each of the three disciplines. The required practicals are an important part of the curriculum, and assessments do focus on these specific aspects.

Student engagement is essential to make any tuition session work effectively, and with this in mind, I do try and make my approach to teaching student-led, adapting my lesson to the benefit of the student. I differentiate my lessons depending on the level of understanding of the student so the student can access the learning material. A major part of the learning process is for the student to try and make sense of the new material by trying to complete some independent investigation by accessing material on the internet or speaking to peers and sharing information.

When teaching, I am not so concerned with the time it takes to convey and teach the material, so my lesson often goes beyond the prescribed hour.
