My name is Darcey and I am a 17 year old year 12 student. I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE maths in the past year and also studied further maths in which I achieved a Grade 7. I am currently studying maths A-level. I found the biggest aid to my studying was practice exam questions and past papers. In tutoring sessions they would focus largely around application of skills to questions and going through any questions that aren't understood. If there was a certain topic that wasn't understood we would work on that area and then implement that topic every session to make sure knowledge stays refreshed. I also find worked examples very helpful in understanding content so I would utilise an online whiteboard when going through questions so the student can see the working instead of being told. As well as this, I will set small homeworks between sessions to allow for independent learning and regular past papers to help measure progress. After getting to know the student for a couple of sessions, I can also work out what methods work best for them and develop sessions around them. I will try to make lessons an engaging as possible with hope students will develop a love and confidence for a subject they may have lacked before. My aim is to help students achieve as much as is possible for them and approach problems with a new outlook. I also achieve a Grade 8 in all three science so and happy to work on science GCSE with my students.
