Having been raised bilingual in English and French, languages have always been an important part of my life. My passion for teaching them as well as learning them emerged after I finished my CELTA qualification and spent time at Embassy Summer teaching teenagers English.
In my spare time, I like writing, taking photos, and watching films. I'm also an avid language learner myself! Right now I'm studying Arabic.
As I mentioned, after completing my CELTA, I taught EFL at Embassy Summer. I also want to mention that I completed French and German under the UK education system up to A Level and so am very familiar with the curriculum, especially after completing the Waldegrave Teaching Alliance Get into Teaching internship this summer, where I was placed in two different secondary schools and had the opportunity to observe lessons and provide support to GCSE and A Level students studying French, Spanish and German.
Furthermore, after beginning my Comparative Literature studies at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, I started working on campus as a peer tutor in writing, helping my fellow students with written assignments across all subjects. I also have experience as a freelance tutor teaching English to native French speakers.
My experience teaching across a wide variety of settings and levels has produced a very adaptive teaching style. I pay a lot of attention to the particular needs of the student I am working with, and make an effort to support the student and provide a relaxed, non-judgmental environment for learning. I am able to structure sessions according to specific timelines, or work more loosely for more casual students.
