When teaching math in the past, I always find it can be explained in many ways that might make more sense to students. I try to find an interest a student may have which could be used in the context of explaining math. This keeps the lessons more entertaining and allows the student to engage more. I would first start by giving a small test to assess the strengths/weaknesses of the student and see what needs to be worked on. From this, I’d discover the level at which the student is at and give them appropriate difficulty levels of questions to enhance their understanding. After a period of time and collective effort from myself and the student, their knowledge would increase in said areas making them stronger mathematicians.
