I have taught primary school level children, and so have experience in tutoring chess. I am a direct and enthusiastic coach, emphasising the importance of theory and middle-game plans, utilising online and physical resources, including a board if necessary. My main repertoire consist of 1. e4, but other openings are within my skill set. I will develop the skills for both the white and black pieces and show key ideas in various openings. The range of players I am willing to coach are from complete beginner (no prior knowledge needed) to early intermediate, or a ranking of I intend to use zoom or other software to do video/audio calls and am also willing to travel within 20km. I am an engaging individual who pushes for interaction and a hands-on teaching style. I intend to develop discipline and rigour in my students, leading to a fast and easy climb of ranks, while also laying strong foundations for independent research and play. For repeat lessons, homework can be set, in the form of puzzles and learning key lines of certain openings. I am a flexible teacher and will adapt to any play style or personality. My lessons will encompass both the positional and attacking styles of chess, while also delving into the history of the “king’s game”, hopefully encouraging you to be as passionate about the game as I am!
