I like to differentiate my lessons to suit you. Let’s spend the first session identifying how you learn best. I’m happy to adapt this to be visual, technological, structured or more flexible. We can focus on areas that you find the most difficult in ways that appeal to your learning style. I welcome all kinds of suggestions and questions. The goal is to facilitate your learning style so you can continue to expand your knowledge beyond my sessions. I aim to help develop your independence so you can feel confident in your capabilities beyond our sessions, because as much as I’d love to help in your exams, I can’t be there.
My presentations are usually very colourful and full of pictures, with key points heavily highlighted. I can tone this down if that would help you. I try to keep sessions light and fun, to help keep you relaxed. I hope this will help you focus on just enjoying our time learning. This is a collaborative process. I don’t believe your success will come from me lecturing you for an hour. I want to teach you to enjoy learning. Engaging in open conversations will facilitate your comprehension and consolidate the learning that does take place.
I have always done my school or university work different to my peers. I have learned the best way to revise is personalised to me. We need to identify what that process looks like for you. It shouldn’t feel like hard work to get a task complete. It should be a positive experience that challenges things you thought you knew, opening up debates and room to expand your knowledge.
