I am a fully qualified teacher, who has been teaching Year 5 teacher for the last three years.
Lessons are structured and tailored to each individual to ensure progress is achievable and evident each lesson. Lessons can focus on one subject area or alternate between more than one (eg. Week 1 maths - week 2 English then back to maths and so on).
I aim to make lessons fun and engaging with verbal and practical elements. Lessons are structured with an I do/we do/ you do ethos - to ensure children fully understand the intended learning outcomes.
First lesson includes an English and maths assessment to assess where learning gaps are, to which can be focussed upon.
For children moving into Year 6, SATs focus and practice can be individually tailored to contribute towards retention and success of learning and understanding of how to answer SAT style questions (this includes arithmetic, reasoning and problem solving, reading comprehension, SPaG and writing).
I do have previous experience of working with younger children teaching phonics, early reading and writing using the RWI scheme. As well as working with KS2 children who require phonic interventions to assist with their reading and writing.
In addition to core lessons, I can provide curriculum lessons, which include science, geography and history and link these into English related lessons. Topics include Earth and Space, Tudors and South America.
As mentioned above, lessons can be individually tailored to your child's needs and requirements. I also have extensive experience of working with SEN children and promoting their progress across all subjects.
