I believe it is crucial to understand individual learning needs, and mould teaching and content around the student. The format I would use while teaching would be to first ask the student to recite their knowledge of the topic at hand, or their current understanding of the content they are struggling with. This consolidates their base knowledge, and then I would fill in gaps and use techniques to facilitate and solidify their current knowledge; this also develops the skill of independent thinking which is crucial later in school. I aim to make my lessons as interactive as possible, with the student demonstrating their understanding throughout sessions to ensure they are keeping up with the content.
My A-levels included Biology, English Literature, and Psychology and currently I am doing an undergraduate degree in Psychology with Cognitive Psychology; I would love to help students who feel they need extra support in any of these subjects at Primary or Secondary school level. Due to having to commute between cities for University, tutoring sessions would be predominantly online, but if I am in the city, I am happy to do some in person sessions if that suits the learner!
I am very passionate and enthusiastic about the subjects I offer to teach, and love to discuss them and share my knowledge, teaching them in a way that will hopefully make less enthusiastic students more inclined to explore the topic.
