I am a firm believer in learning being fun!
My combined experience as a Primary Teaching Assistant, Nursery Assistant and Private Nanny have given me a unique insight into how to help children learn in a way that not only suits them, but which they enjoy. I am skilled at formulating lesson plans catering to specific children's needs, but adapting them in the moment when necessary if children are struggling to maintain concentration or interest. I have worked with children of all abilities, from incredibly high ability pupils to those with varying special educational needs, including but not limited to: autism, aspergers, ADHD, behavioural disorder, attachment disorder and downs syndrome. This has given me a vast amount of experience to draw on when educating children of all ages and abilities during tutoring sessions. I like to use a variety of educational resources from workbooks and sheets to practical and physical resources, ensuring sessions are dynamic and not just pure reading and writing.
During the initial Covid-19 lockdown I nannied for two primary aged children, which involved ensuring their homeschooling was carried out daily, to an impeccable standard. I also developed my skills regarding in the moment response to education, meaning my ability to change the flow of a lesson plan whilst in a session is flawless. This is important to me as I feel tutoring sessions should be pre-planned to cater to each child's specific learning needs, but also have the ability to adapt when things aren't working or a child is struggling with a learning concept.
Whilst I believe it is important to follow the curriculum and ensure children have a well-rounded education, I also place great value on ensuring learning is accessible and enjoyable. This gives me a unique perspective as to how to adapt learning for each individual pupil, making education and learning pleasurable.
