Having taught English for more than 10 years, I have learned that each student is an individual, with their personal needs and goals. Although classes do need a structure and previous preparation, my classes are adapted so that students can have the most of it, no matter their age, background, nationality, gender or race.
A conversation class is always the starting point, where the students skills are assessed. The next classes are prepared based on the skills that need to be more developed. Subjects that interest the students are used, and everyday situations are presented so that the students can feel represented and understand the importance of what they are learning.
As a Cambridge Speaking Examiner, I am fully able to assess the level of a student during a conversation, and identify their language needs. This role also grants me material and knowledge regarding the Cambridge certification exams, as well as IELTS and TOEFL.
Teaching a second language is a way of breaking boundaries that hold students back. The feeling of guiding a person toward their goal, and watching achievements being completed is what moves me. I have learned how the English language can broaden our view and grant acess to new discoveries and information, and the importance of having as much sources as possible about any subject.
