Hello! My name is Daniel and I am currently in the Concurrent Education program at Queen's University. I have over a year of experience with paid/volunteer tutoring and would love to continue tutoring in the near future! Most of my experience is with younger kids (ages 6-12) but I am open to helping anyone! I am also trained in helping those with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, ADHD, dysgraphia, etc. As well, I have experience tutoring students with ASD (although this in itself is not a learning disability). When tutoring, I always focus on helping the student with what is most important or what they struggle with the most. My average lesson consists of several vital English skills such as reading, writing, speaking, and listening/phonics (phonics for if the student is younger, listening for if the student is new to the English language). For 1 hour, you can expect each of these skills to get about 15 minutes each. Additionally, I incorporate a variety of activities/games to keep the learner active and engaged throughout the lesson (this may change however if the student needs help with homework, a specific test, etc). Although I am most experienced with younger students, I am flexible enough to aid any age and any skill level of English (up to University level). At higher levels, I can help with essay writing, exam preparation, grammar, and more. Lastly, I love making a rapport with students and believe that it is essential for a better learning outcome. Friendliness and establishing a connection with students is a key component of my overall teaching strategy.
