I aim to dedicate 1-2 hour-long sessions to topics that a student considers particularly challenging and provide guidance for solving problems, or providing resources to assist or re-contextualise the mathematics at hand. I plan to provide a list of useful resources for use during and after the session that will aim to clarify and make the subject less intimidating.
I hope that I can break down the skills and techniques I used to get a 9 in GSCE and A* in A level math in a systematic and easy to understand format. Though the format of the lessons is flexible to the student's learning style, lessons will include an introduction, set of guided and/or unguided problems, summary including revision notes, if possible breaking subjects into multiple parts for easier absorbtion of information. I also aim to provide guidance when preparing for exams for potentially useful techniques and how to format an answer in such a way to increase the student's chances of scoring by the criteria of the mark scheme.
I also take active feedback from students and are able to restructure lesson plans in order to better suit their needs. I am able to assess a student's progression in particular areas and track improvement. As a tutor, I will be able to give immediate feedback to a student, and therefore will be able to adapt to and reinforce the learning much more quickly than a classroom setting can. I am able to dedicate session time to making sure every aspect of a mathematical concept is understood, or focus on consistent progress.
My lessons can be tailored to any schedule due to my flexible timing, 7 days a week included.
