My teaching style I focus on developing a visual and mental of image of many complex concepts associated with biology. To understand ideas I believe one must be able to relate new concepts to things they already know to really reinforce there understanding. I find this makes it more enjoyable experience to be able to talk about how biology is apart of all things in life. I work through single areas at a time on request of my students needs to ensure one is confident on the area before moving on. This allows us to build notes in a formated manner and discuss how all areas are interrelated. Exam preparation can also be included by addressing your syllabus which we can work through exam questions related to each area of biology. My main goal is to ensure my students walk away with a appreciation and love for biology being able to converse the science in ways which can be applied to exams and to other scientists.
Biology is a vast area of science which includes many different areas which I like to discuss to my students the types of proffessional roles and career paths associated with each area. It's hard to specialise in specific area when there are so many but finding the area you love is what's most important. The opportunities in Biological science based roles are ever increasing and its never too late to get involved. From understanding the world better through research to developing biological drugs that cure illness.
