I am an ambitious and well-organised practitioner who has finished my Teacher Induction training. I
have a passion for teaching ICT and Computer Science and, having successfully completed my two
PGCE teaching placements, my other post-PGCE placements after that, feel that I would be an excellent candidate for this post. The aim of my PGCE and supply teaching placements as part of my NQT year was to deliver high-quality learning, which is enjoyable and engaging for all learners whilst considering their well-being. These are essential qualities that I aim to embed and develop in my own lessons by creating a positive, safe working environment, maintaining high expectations and, ultimately, giving pupils the responsibility for their own learning.
The PGCE course and my NQT Induction year so far have enabled me to translate my ICT and Computer Science knowledge into teaching and inspiring pupils by developing their passion and enthusiasm for the subject. During my two placements I taught in the ICT and Business Faculty and then the ICT Department under the guidance of two subject mentors in the two placements. I quickly became familiar with the school routine, policies and pupils in the classes I taught. The placement surpassed my expectations and was a truly rewarding experience. I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the teaching profession. The members of staff at the school were friendly and I enjoyed building a rapport with the pupils. This is because I enjoy getting to know the pupils I teach and staff I work with thereby establishing a good professional relationship. Working in a positive and friendly environment inspired me to have a disciplined work ethic and always do the best I could for the pupils and staff I was working with. The positive atmosphere at my two placements helped me to see the value the teaching profession brings to young people and the wider community. I am looking forward to bringing this caring and hardworking ethos into this job and continued professional development. I am progressing through my lead practice placement, which is in a different catchment area to my first placement. My two placements have given me a valuable opportunity to teach pupils with varying abilities from a multitude of different backgrounds. I now appreciate that each pupil has individual needs and fluctuating levels of attention. This has challenged me to make my lessons as captivating as possible.
