I like to teach in a fun but informative way. I like my students to feel supported and encouraged. I like to identify a list of topics they feel like they need to work on and hit them step by step. I have previously tutored students for both GCSEs and A Level maths for the whole of their year 11 and 13 respectively. For GCSE, my student achieved a grade above her original goal and my A level students achieved their goal grades set at the start of tutoring. Because of my background in engineering I have a vast knowledge of maths that I would love to share with my students. I would prefer to do evenings or weekends.

For my first lesson, I’ll have a discussion with my student about exactly what they want to get out of tutoring. I would like to know what topics they struggle with and want help with. This way I can plan each lesson to be personal to them and what they want to work on. I would set a goal from the start about what the student wants to achieve in exams, and hopefully aim to exceed it. I will teach using worksheets and questions as I believe the best way to learn is to do. The students can keep these resources for revision. I would aim for my students to do a full past paper under timed conditions once a month to monitor progress and to identify strengths and weaknesses.
