Usually I’d re-cap what we learnt the previous week.
I would then introduce the new lesson. Working through an example together and then asking the student to complete a few on their own. If it’s a GCSE student I will then find exam type questions and go over these. My idea is to make sure the student is comfortable and sees that GCSE maths isn’t that difficult. My lessons are topic based and I will highlight the link between the current lesson to perhaps one we may have covered in the past. I also ensure students understand the basics like converting cm into m, seconds into minutes etc.
