I am passionate about teaching and languages, which is why I continually pursue a deeper understanding in these fields, and why I approach every class with excitement and energy. I am a qualified teacher and linguist by three Universities (Complutense, UNED and Roehampton) and by Instituto Cervantes. I also hold a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in the UK. Since all my studies and experience have been focused on teaching and languages, I have all the necessary tools to teach you Spanish in a clear and creative way that adapts to your particular needs.
I use a communicative approach in my lessons (I will make you talk!) so students feel that they are having a meaningful immersion. I have seen that the most effective and motivating way to do this is by bringing to the class tasks from the real world, making the learning process feel natural and useful. In addition to this, I believe that a boring experience is the last thing a student needs, which is why I do my best to deliver lessons that are interesting and exciting, while of course, still being effective. In addition, I love music, sports and literature, and I like to connect with my students through interests, which makes lessons even more in engaging and fun.
I believe that learning a language is something natural in humans and that there are not bad students, but bad methods and misconceptions about language learning. I adapt my classes to my students' needs, aims and personality, and I use the many available tools to help them in a creative and clear way. My students leave my lessons with a sense of achievement, and knowing that they can use what they've learnt with autonomy. In addition to this, I love cultural studies and I am convinced that to fully become fluent, it is also necessary to understand the cultural intricacies and to become familiar with the etiquette of different social situations.
I have a very broad experience in teaching: I have worked with students of all ages and taught at all levels, including Spanish for business, legal Spanish, GCSE and A levels. I have delivered intensive courses for students who needed to learn in a rush, and also helped very busy professionals who had very few moments free in their schedules.
In addition, I am also an official examiner for de DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera by Instituto Cervantes) exams. Those students wanting to prepare for these tests, will have with me the advantage of doing so with someone who knows the intricacies of the tests, and with work, will get excellent results.
Looking forwards to meet you and help you achieve your goals!
