In summary, I make my lessons FUN; I teach the student, not the lesson; and YOU get what YOU need.
I'm an experienced communicator and entertainer, possessed of boundless enthusiasm and the belief that fun aids student engagement and learning retention. Bio-Chemists tell us that serotonin actually aids memory and knowledge retention. For something to move from our short-term to long-term memory takes something like 50-60 repeated actions - unless it is done in play, in which case it takes 5-10.
I'm flexible and adaptable in my methodology: I create my lesson plans s to be flexible and adaptable, and teach them according to the needs of my individual students (rather than trying to force my students to fit my existing tried and trusted lessons, like other teachers do). We'll always go at your pace, and if you're having a bad day and don't quite achieve the objective, we'll do something else for a while and come back to it when you're ready. We won't build a second storey until the first is secure: if you're having difficulty understanding a particular aspect of the language, we'll work at it in different ways until YOU are confident that you get it, and feel ready to move on. I also like to make my lessons relevant to your own interests and hobbies.
I also have the personal strength to both offer and receive constructive feedback; holding the view that teachers, as well as students, should learn and develop as they proceed. I'll listen to you, to your feedback, and adapt subsequent lessons to suit.
