I have worked in education for ten years. I have worked in secondary schools and specialist schools. At university I also tutored/mentored 1st year students.
I have experience teaching complex needs and vulnerable young people.
I then became an Educational Psychologist specialising with young people experiencing grief loss or separation, young carers , ASN/ASD, and more specifically care experienced young people.
I have a background in working with neurodiverse young people and/or those who have experienced trauma and therefore take a very nurturing approach to my teaching.
I believe in creating a relaxed yet dynamic environment for my students. I feel that the best outcomes are achieved through students setting their own aims and outcomes. I therefore provide an initial meeting where the student and I will do a needs analysis and person centred planning allowing us to explore their hopes and ambitions for the future.
I then provide lessons on specific topics inline with the curriculum. And or specific interests the young person may want to explore.
For older students wishing to explore the different roles within psychology I am able to give specified lessons on: Neuro psychology, Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology and Forensic Psychology.
I believe in a nurturing and reflective approach to teaching, I therefore welcome questions and debates on the topic. My hope is that all students will feel that they have both learned and reflected on the teaching I have provided.
I have said young person throughout this but I would love to inspire anyone of any age to explore Psychology and it is never too late to start!
