My lessons involve engaging practical tutorials and workshops about the art fundamentals, as well as in-depth tutoring tailored to your course (GCSE, Highers, A-Level). I aim to develop my student's understanding and passion by adapting my teaching to their interests, for example showing how an interest in comic book art can translate to coursework around action, movement and vivid colour. The goal with all my students is to help them achieve a high grade, a confidence in their work, and a lasting passion for creating.
My personal practice has centred around surrealism and sculpture, as well commission-based illustration work. I strongly believe that art education should ignite your imagination, while also preparing you for work in the creative industry. My teaching's focus is on the coursework attached to your course, however I also aim to educate students on the range of professional positions in the artistic industry if they wish to continue onto degree level and beyond.
My Lessons are online or in person, and I aim to provide the same high quality teaching in both forms. Each lesson will provide discussion about the course of the student and their current work, contextual information in the form of a presentation about the kind of movements/materials/work they are interested in, and a practical workshop. This workshop can either be a practical demonstration of techniques/use of materials, tutoring on the art fundamentals (colour theory, composition, anatomy) or a side-by-side activity, wherein myself and the student would paint/draw etc simultaneously, where I can provide hands-on teaching.
