I am a trained clarinettist with a first class honours degree in music. I have played across Europe, including a solo performance for the President of Ireland. I am experienced in both classical and jazz performance, having played in several orchestras and big bands.

I can teach at any level up to grade 8, along with any music theory if desired.

I cater my lessons to the goals you intend to reach. For ABRSM and Trinity grades, I will walk you through a selection of grade pieces and guide you on the performance throughout the course of our lessons, along with supplementary theory, technical exercises, and other music extracts. If your grade examination requires an aural test as well, I am able to provide tutoring for those as well. I have proficiency in piano and am able to provide some accompaniment if one is available (I'm afraid I don't have a piano myself).
If you are interested in jazz performance then we will look at various jazz standards and jazz theory, and will work through how to navigate chord progressions and how to vary your improvisation in different styles.

If you are after a more casual ability on the clarinet, then I am happy to help you work toward whatever styles you have in mind! Feel free to tell me what kind of music you wish to play, and I'll structure a lesson progression that caters to your wants.

Whatever your interests may be, we will put a focus on technique and expression through your music, while ensuring that the studied material is interesting and engaging. I believe a balance needs to be struck between learning academically and enjoying the process of learning, as the ultimate goal is to enjoy the process of creating music.
