I usually teach Chinese class online (e.g., Zoom), using slides or PPTs and textbooks, it depends on students' needs and levels, I usually met students online twice a week and I had a clear tutoring schedule at the very beginning of my lessons. It usually began with vocabulary lesson and then the grammar lesson and then text teaching, organized by the topics from the textbook. For each lesson, I can assign students to do oral performance to check if they understand and can use what they have learned. In the USA, I have 8 years of teaching Chinese as a second language and my background is Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition. I used to teach Chinese for students from Hawaii, Arizona, Indiana, and California, during the pandemic, I taught advanced and basic level Chinese for college students from different backgrounds. I also tutored adult learners online using the polular textbook and their feedback are pretty good and helpful. We not only built a good relationship but also learned from each other during my tutoring. I also worked for the school critical language center to help students from the military base with academic listening and reading. These experience greatly motivated me to teach Chinese as my current and future career. In general, I welcome students who want to learn Chinese and Linguistics in a remote way, and I want to teach them how to effectively learn and prepare for the tests. I thank you for your attention to my job description.
