I have been teaching History and social studies for twenty three years both at junior secondary and senior secondary level. Most of my learners do well in the final examination. The reason for this remarkable passrate is a result of the dedication between me and the learners in completing the tasks I offer them. The tasks are very simple but challenging to encourage learning.
The scope of my methodology is broad mostly, it is learner centred. The learner is trained to be an active participant. Feedback from the learner is very Important and helps to track for progress. The methodology can be changed at anytime to suit the learner.
In terms of the scope of the lessons to offer, I rely on the syllabus from a reciepient student. The history component is wide. The scope might include African and European history. In the African history there is the geographical history of African states and how their geographical setup has influenced the distribution of people and determined their vocation such as farming and hunting. This might lead us into the rise of kingdoms and begining of the struggle for independence from the imperialists.The interaction between the indigenous communities and the incoming communities is another route to be looked at. The format might be the same with European history. Though their will be an addition into looking at the rise of dictators. The Russian revolution, french revolution and British not forgetting American splendid policy might be one of the topics to focus on.
