My lessons are tailored to the individual depending on their needs, but I like to use visuals to aid learning. I taught English to French students as part of a gap year in France.
I have since privately tutored children for a charity in the past few years who were not native English speakers, to help them gain confidence and improve their written and spoken English to help them towards their GCSE exams. My students have enjoyed their lessons, and found the way I explain and break things down much easier to understand. My speciality in Grammar which many students struggle with and the way I explained and broke down structures helped my students to gain a better understanding of the language. I have a patient and gentle approach to teaching, and if a student is finding it challenging to understand I will find another way of explaining using games and other tools.
I also use poetry analysis with English literature students, helping them to find a structure to analyse a poem for their English literature exams so that when they are presented with an unknown poem in an exam they know how to structure it and analyse it without panicking. My lessons are tailored in such a way that the student is able to come up with the answers themselves and I'm there as a guide. I have seen vast improvements since starting with my students in the beginning to when our lessons finished and have been given feedback that they had grown in confidence in their abilities, which is hugely rewarding
