Hello there, my name’s Ciaran, I graduated with a BSc in Physics just last year, and have been an on and off tutor over the years. I'm passionate about learning about all sorts of topics, but have a particular soft spot for astrophysics and space topics. I’m hoping to continue my studies to Masters level in the coming year and to pursue a career in Engineering.

I've been supporting a KS3 level student in regaining their maths confidence this year, and would be eager to help many more students do the same. Maths can be intimidating, but I firmly believe anyone can become great at it with the right teaching methods and encouragement!

As a tutor, I view myself as my students' teammate, there to help them find their personal problem areas, break them down into manageable bite-sized pieces and show them how best to tackle them. Maths can seem often appear scarier than it really is when it's explained too quickly, so I'm ready to go at a pace each student feels comfortable with, and try to be as thorough when explaining as I can. I always believe in teaching to the level, not the age; everyone will have some gaps in their knowledge and when it comes to maths students have to be able to walk before they can run.

I'd be happy to help with homework or run through anything from classes that seemed confusing, but I always try to put together some relevant questions to work through ahead of sessions just in case. I'm flexible with how I like to do things though, everybody likes to learn a bit differently so I'm more than happy to change things up if it feels like it's needed.

Feeling confident is half of the battle, so hopefully I can help some folks feel better about dealing with maths!
