I'm a qualified secondary level teacher specialising in mathematics. I've tutored at all levels in the UK, Ireland and further afield but most of my experience has been at third level and so I have a keen interest in the different secondary school maths syllabi and how they prepare students for undergraduate maths; likewise the knock-on effect of GCSE for A-level, etc.
My biggest class so far has been a packed lecture theatre of 350 students, but I am equally at home with one-to-one lessons. I find that online tuition can be made to work very well; indeed it fits nicely with my passion for using graphical tools to help students visualise mathematics, whether it's simple use of graph-plotting packages or interactive games right up to computational engines that scan a problem and structure a solution.
But underpinning everything is my basic philosophy: when it comes to learning mathematics, a student will only thrive by truly understanding, because through understanding we can actually begin to enjoy the subject. And that's why I do this: I love maths, and I love those light-bulb moments when I see the subject 'click' for a student.
