I am a post-graduate student at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, undertaking the MSc Late Antique Islamic and Byzantine Studies. Before that, I graduated from History and Politics from the University of Limerick, Ireland, with a 1:1.
My history lessons are delivered in a university tutorial style, meaning that while I will be doing a lot of the talking, I would encourage students to participate in discussion on the topic at hand. I have found that this method of teaching helps to build familiarity with topics, and promotes reliable recall of important information. The advantage of tutoring over a larger scale classroom environment, is it's capacity to stop and really focus on items which the student is having difficulty with.
My own historical expertise is wide ranging, examples include: Early Modern Europe, Spanish America, European Revolutions, Medieval British and Irish Isles, The Byzantine Empire, World War I and II. If you are looking for an in depth look at a particular event, or a broader overview, this is something I can provide. My strengths lie in teaching students to think critically about the past, analyzing historical narratives, and looking for bias in primary sources.
Should you wish to see examples of my academic work, I would be happy to forward some.
