Having worked in business and public services over the past 40 years I have a wide range of experience in setting objectives and delivering successful outcomes and I apply the same process to teaching English as a foreign language.
I gained my CELTA qualification at a local college where I completed 6 hours teaching supervised practice which included delivery of lessons to pre-intermediate and upper intermediate students covering all four skills of writing, reading, listening and speaking. Most of my lessons were an hour in length during which I used authentic materials to underline the form, meaning, and phonology of the target language. I was able to structure lessons in line with students needs after conducting individual assessments.
In addition to the above I have recently completed my Advanced Certificate in TEFL/TESOL for Online Teaching Practice which offers the opportunity of delivering my lessons at the chosen time and pace of the learner and brings greater flexibility allowing a more tailored course of lessons.
Presently I am trying to build up my practical experience and am keen to offer lessons at reduced rates and free assessments in order to improve and develop my own teaching skills.
As a student of other languages myself I feel I fully understand the process of learning and retention through my own journey and that is why I believe I have adapted my tuition approach through the eyes of the learner rather than the teacher.
