Christopher Dwyer

As an IGCSE teacher in Mongolia, I taught G7-9 and helped prepare students for the G8 exam, used official textbooks and created original curriculum to foster learning. Students were engaged in learning projects such as short script writing and filmmaking, as well as novel study and performance art. Within the context of the framework, the goals of the school, and the interest of the students, I planned my lessons based on specific objectives outlined by the curriculum, but also of student interest. Students were simultaneously learning English as an additional language, and ability ranged greatly across all grade levels.

As an IB teacher in Tanzania and Poland, I taught MYP grades 7-10 and collaborated with other teachers to best suit the demands of the framework but also to meet student interest. When analyzing story-telling structures, we studied films and students had opportunities to express themselves across several projects spanning filmmaking, poetry, propaganda, essay writing, novel study, debate, and a list too long to include here.

I have also taught adults in South Korea and Thailand, both as part of an EAL program and while working toward my CELTA certification.

My qualifications started with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Toronto, CELTA certification from Cambridge Assessment, teaching certification from Washington, D.C., and as a teacher of the International Baccalaureate middle years program, I attended professional development programs as provided. I also have 30 years of writing experience spanning everything from news articles to novels.
