My lessons will involve a methodical approach that tries to simplify a given topic and frame it within its historical context. From this foundation you will build on your understanding through historical story telling, conversation and informal debate, and finally through setting out clear arguments that may be used in exam situations and, of course, outside the classroom too!
My two degrees in Philosophy and Social Anthropology allowed me to look first at the theoretical, and second at the social side of history and for these reasons I chose them as my area of study. As a result I not only have an expertise on both political and social history, but also on argument framing and execution so you can ensure well set out and clear answers for exams, or indeed a deeper insight into a period of history you are interested in. I have experience teaching students of all ages including in the classroom and private tutoring.
My main goal is to engage you in historical conversation and ask questions that will secure the facts and arguments you learn about in class so you may use them in situations at school or university, whether this be an exam, essay paper or for pure interest.
Whilst I specialise in History, I am also available to teach Philosophy, Spanish and Anthropology, so do get in touch!
I look forward to hearing from you!
