My lessons focus on the needs of the student. Initially, there will be a get to know you session to assess strengths and weaknesses, and a discussion about why the student would like to learn English, their interests, what areas they would like to improve in and preferred methods for doing so.
From there I would propose a structured set of lessons to be agreed with the student. The time/duration would also be discussed. If someone only has a short amount of time available, then the proposed course would differ from if they had a longer time available.
After each lesson I would provide the student with a concise, readable summary of the aim of the lesson and any new language covered. This means that while the student is always welcome to make notes, they are not obliged to.
My aim is to empower students to have the confidence to commnicate in English and unlock their ability to do so.
I worked in the IT sector as a User Experience designer for 20 years, both in private and government roles, most recently at the Home Office. I am well placed to provide IT workes and companies with tailored English tuition with particular relevance to the IT sphere.
I am also a freelance historian, and published 'London Vagabond: the life of Henry Mayhew' in 2016.
