I have been teaching piano for around 10 years, and over this time my teaching methodology has undoubtedly improved, primarily through studying at a London conservatoire, and by continuously reflecting on how I teach, both with the guidance of industry professionals, and through my own self-reflection. As such I have a very good reputation, and had previously ran a successful business teaching students in London for around 3 years, before a change in circumstance caused me to move. During this time, I prepared students for; music entrance exams to prestigious schools, graded examinations and performances, all of these students succeeded, and with graded examinations all passed with merit or above.
My methodology is a based on a hybrid approach and I have studied most major teaching methods such as Suzuki, Kodaly etc, furthermore I was also taught by an excellent pianist and ABRSM examiner, with further tuition coming from masterclasses with various world-renowned pianists. Consequently, I use aspects of each of these teaching styles to best fit the student in question, and it is this approach that has been well received by many families over the years.
The structure of a typical lesson will depend on the goals of the student, in our first class we will establish; what you aim to achieve, where you currently are in relation to that goal, and how we will go about achieving it. Following this initial assessment we will work towards intermediate goals, whether those be graded exams, or performing particular pieces. In some cases there may be opportunities to perform at festivals, competitions, create recordings and I am of course happy to assist with passing music entrance exams.
Over the years I have had a varied career, and numerous experiences which are hard to outline entirely, but if you choose to take lessons with me, the benefit of those experiences will be evident.
