It has been said that science is “great game played out in the mind”. To be good at chemistry, you (not me) need to be able to play that game successfully. That is why my lessons concentrate on you. Finding out what you currently know/understand, agreeing what progress we need to make and planning and taking the route together. We will agree prep for every lesson, you will lead in showing what you know, I will use my experience to help us fill the gaps together and we will plan for next steps against our overall agreed plan. Along the way, you will always know what progress is being made and what still needs to be done.
Every lesson will also come with homework that will be designed to test what you already know but also push things further, thst it why I always make myself available to my students by e-mail outside of lessons so that when you get stuck (and at times you will) you will not be alone in resolving the issues.
As we go along, we will consider ways of learning, tips and a variety of strategies to mean that you are not just learning the very best way for you to learn on your current course but also for your next courses in science, leading through to university.
I hope we can get a chance to discuss this further. I love my subject and I love teaching I have played the “great game” for a long time and have helped many students succeed at it. Maybe you could be the next?
