CHRIS SIMPSON has taught in person and online for the past three years. He has delivered online teaching to the E17 Writers Group, examining the craft of writing from a great first line, to when to stop editing. He has also worked with individuals in assessing their work and has delivered numerous speaking engagements.
Some of the services he offers:?
- 1-to-1 tutorials to mine deeper into your work and practice. These tutorials are directed specifically to your experience and your discipline. With a wide breadth of references and material, the tutorials look at where you can place your writing within the larger literary world as well as challenging you to think more critically about your work
- Editorial feedback from structural edits to line edits to help bring resonance to your work
- Speaking work. Topics in the past have ranged from “The Hidden Benefits of Failure” to “How to Stop Being Minor: Elevating small hours into Major Work”. He also recently delivered three workshops for the London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Waltham Forest and Richmond as part of Spread The Word's and London Libraries "City of Stories" project.
Having studied at Birkbeck University where he received a First in Creative Writing BA, he has built upon this with 1-to-1 Mentorships with both Nadine Matheson and Anna Vaught. In 2018, he was a Winner for the inaugural year in the prestigious Spread The Word's London Writers Award. He was also part of the 2014 Word Theatre's Writers Retreat under the tutelage of Andre Dubus III. In 2019, he was the Social Media Manager for Inkandescent Press.
