My lessons of are a combination of practical instrument skills, visual presentations and basic explanations about music theory. Over the years I have picked up many shortcuts on my preferred instrument (guitar) and will share this knowledge along with tips on how to teach yourself once you've achieved a basic level of understanding.
Learning journey would look something like this:
Lesson 1 – how to hold a guitar, the different parts of a guitar, learning the strings and the frets, tuning, how to read guitar tablature and learning a basic melody
Lesson 2 - understanding the basic major scale, playing a major scale, understanding chords, playing your first chord, how to strum
Lesson 3 - learning about chord progressions, learning the basic shapes of chords on a guitar, playing three chords together, homework for your first song
Lesson 4 - learning a song, different strumming techniques, picking comma using a plectrum, changing chords, learning barre chords, strumming practise
Lesson 5 - music theory - the different keys and listening skills- how to learn a song by ear, understanding common pop song chord sequences, an introduction to the blues
I can also offer things like songwriting lessons basic song production, I have a portable digital studio and can
make recordings quite easily, I've recorded a few full bands and a few local choirs. Additionally I have experience in registering bands for PRS putting on shows and gigs, designing merchandise and managing and marketing is 7 piece band in Leeds. Get in touch if you like what you hear
